Monsoon at Khandala

Monsoon at Khandala

"Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain.
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see [it] together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it]." ~ Is 40:4-5

When all my concentration is on getting the photograph right, there's yet a small whisper!
There are days in life when everything is apparently smooth and then you are there right on top feeling ecstatic, praising God as if you are on a mountain top; and then there are those despicably forgettable days, tumultuous days of  anguish and sorrow when you take offence to God. But the Word lucidly states that the glory of the Lord is revealed only when there is perfect rest in the Lord; neither a mountain nor a valley, but a trustful rest!!

O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be!

"O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above."

I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.

Nature's Pattern Matching: Young fronds of a Cycas

Nature's Pattern Matching: Young fronds of a Cycas

I was just admiring the beautiful filigree patterns and intricacies of nature when a thought came upon me:
"Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?"  ~Rom 9:20 (KJV)

Simply put it....Man, the created one, has no right to question God, the Creator!!

"Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have lodging places, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. ~Matt 8:20"

I was busy admiring and taking a few pot-shots of this beautiful scene, when a verse came to my mind.."Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have lodging places, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." Come to think of it, I've taken pains to travel to places to catch sunrises and sunsets, but this thought had never occurred to me before! Later, spent some time on this portion (Matt 8:19-22), and by His mercies I was able to see an aspect of discipleship; the aspect of counting the cost to be a disciple. The Lord's paradoxical answer had me stumped. Both the men seemed eager to follow the Lord, but the Lord apparently looked at their hearts. In the Jewish teacher, the Lord found a hasty heart that never counted the cost of following Him. But then what really is counting the cost..?? Somehow couldn't get the answer to this until a week later. The answer was in Numbers 33. The Lord was with the Israelites as long as they had the heart to move forward. But when they began to settle down, the Lord gives them a warning.. (Numbers 33:55-56).

Beauty for Ashes

Many crowd the Saviour's kingdom,
Few receive His Cross,
Many seek His prize and honour,
Few would suffer His loss,
For the dear sake of the Master,
Counting all but dross.

Many sit at Jesus' table,
Few would fast like Him,
Few watch with Him in the garden,
When the sorrow cup of anguish,
Trembles to the brim.

Many will confess His wisdom,
Few embrace His shame,
Many, should He smile upon them,
Will His praise proclaim.
Then, if for a while He leaves them,
They desert His name.

But the souls who love Him truly,
Let woe come or bliss.
These will count His blood,
Saviour, Thou who thus hast loved me,
Make me love like this!
